You may be wondering why we have Traditional and Modern Gift ideas for each Wedding Anniversary, Well parts of the Traditional list have existed since Medieval Times. Silver and Golden Anniversaries have been traced back to Medieval Germany where Garlands of these Metals were presented as gifts on the 25th and 50th Years of marriage it was not until 1937 that the remainder of the Traditional list was created.

The Modern Anniversary Materials list is more contemporary and can be easier to use it has no clear beginning but like the Traditional each year is more precious than the last.
